Sydney Airport Parking

Parkhound and Fly - A New Way to Store Your Car on Holiday. Parkhound provides a new option for Sydney Airport parking. Airport parking and particularly long term parking can cost a bucket load, so why not leave your car in a residents driveway or car park just near the Airport. It’s cheaper and with the convenience of online booking too.

Sydney is one of the most recognisable cities in the whole of Australia. It is also the most populous city in the country, with over 5 million people living in the city. Sydney Airport, also known as Kingsford Smith Airport, is the busiest airport in NSW and the country, with nearly 15 million international passengers and almost 27 million domestic passengers flying within 2016 alone. With this, parking can become increasingly challenging in the city.

The airport has 3 Passenger Terminals, one for international passengers, one for domestic and one for more regional aircrafts. The International Terminal 1 is used by Qantas, all Oneworld and Skyteam members except for Delta and Virgin Australia and its partners. Terminal 2 is for the domestic and regional flight services as well as budget airlines including Jetstar, TigerAir and Regional Express Airlines. Virgin Australia also operates in this terminal. Terminal 3 caters to Qantas and Qantaslink airline services, featuring a large Qantas Club lounge along with a Business Class and Chairmans lounge.

Parking at Sydney Airport:

Getting to the Domestic and International Airport

If you are not planning to bring your car to the airport, it’s easy to catch public transportation. As it is only six miles away from the city centre, there are many different ways to get to your terminal. From Central Station, it takes approximately 13 minutes to get to Sydney Airport by train. Take the T2 Airport, Inner West and South Line on Platform 23 to get to the Domestic and International Terminals. You can also use the airport express trip if you want to get to the airport as quickly as possible. A train ride will cost you somewhere between $14 and $20. You can also catch the Route 400 bus that goes from Burwood to Bondi Junction. This bus route stops at Terminal 3.

Most of the main hotels in the city centre offer a direct airport shuttle service. This should cost you less than $20 but be prepared for overcrowding and long delays as they are usually a popular service. For those who wish to travel in a private vehicle, a cab fare from the City Centre to the Airport will cost you around $30.

If you have decided to park at Sydney Airport, International P7 is a multi-story carpark with 1,000's of parking bays directly across from the International Terminal 1 for all international flights. For Domestic Terminal Parking, it is recommended you park at P1, which is located in between Terminals 2 and 3. Both these car parks are undercover and you can pay by credit card or cash. There are other options like park & fly, even a car wash and valet parking too.

Short-term Stays

If you have decided to drop off or pick up friends or family members at the gate, there are several short-term parking options. There is no need to book in advance if you have decided to self-park, however booking online can give you access to cheaper parking rates. P1/P2 is recommended for greetings or farewells, as it is only 5 minutes from Domestic Terminal 2 and 3. For Drive-up rates, parking fees will cost anyway from $19 for 30 minutes to an hour, up to $61 for over 3 hours.

Long-term Stays

All carparks if you are self-parking operate 24/7, 7 days a week with CCTV security, so you don’t have to worry about opening or closing times. For longer-term stays, P3 is recommended as it offers discounted daily rates. However, Blue Emu Parking is usually a preferred parking option for long-term stays. Whilst it is located off site, it offers free shuttle buses to the Domestic Terminal. It is, however, an open-air airport car park with a small shaded area. For 6 days, Blue Emu Car Park costs $125 with an additional $16 for each day after. Shaded parking costs an additional $5 per day.
