Question 7

Where can I find free parking in Strawberry Hills?

Accepted Answer

Free parking in Strawberry Hills, Sydney, is exceptionally limited and highly competitive. As an inner-city area, most on-street parking is either metered, time-restricted, or designated for resident permit holders. The City of Sydney Council enforces these restrictions to manage high demand and ensure turnover. For instance, many streets will have parking meters requiring payment, often with time limits such as 1-hour or 2-hour maximums during business hours. Some residential streets are exclusively for residents with valid parking permits. Clearway restrictions are also common on main arterial roads during peak periods, prohibiting stopping or parking. There are no major commercial facilities in Strawberry Hills that offer free customer parking. Finding untimed or unrestricted free parking is generally not feasible within Strawberry Hills itself and would necessitate parking a significant distance away, likely in a different suburb.

Question 8

What are the parking options near Central Station?

Accepted Answer

Parking near Prince Alfred Park in Strawberry Hills primarily consists of metered street parking and several commercial parking facilities.

Metered street parking is available on streets surrounding Prince Alfred Park, such as Chalmers Street and Cleveland Street, with typical rates around $5.70 per hour. Time limits, often 2 hours, apply during peak periods. Always check signage carefully for specific restrictions and operating hours. The small car park directly at Prince Alfred Park Pool is also available but often fills quickly due to its limited capacity.

For longer stays, there are multiple commercial parking operators located within a short walk of Strawberry Hills, particularly towards Central Station. These facilities offer a range of options including hourly rates, early bird specials, and weekend rates. Hourly rates can start from approximately $10-$15, with early bird options often available for around $25-$40 for a full day, depending on the facility and booking method. Weekend rates are generally more affordable than weekday rates. Additionally, Parkhound offers various pre-booked parking options in the area, often at competitive rates.
