North Sydney is located just across the Harbour Bridge from Sydney CBD. It’s one of Sydney’s key business districts and home to major corporate offices, tech companies, and a growing number of retail and dining precincts.

While the area is known for its office buildings and corporate culture, it also has a lot to offer outside work hours. Locals and visitors are drawn to iconic spots like Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden, Don Bank Museum, Greenwood Plaza, and Bradfield Park.

But limited street parking and recent changes in parking systems and council regulations have made it harder for drivers to find parking without problems. In 2024, North Sydney Council rolled out a $2 million cashless parking system using the PayStay app and Touch N Go terminals. Many drivers find the system “confusing”, especially older residents or those without smartphones. The 8.25 per cent service fee has also raised concerns, with some calling it price gouging. Some physical meters have been removed or covered, leading to confusion and unintended parking fines.

For those fed up with these parking issues, platforms like Parkhound offer a more flexible alternative. Instead of relying on street parking or council meters, drivers can book private spaces like driveways or off-street spots. It’s also a great way to find some of the best parking deals in the area.

So whether you're strolling through Kirribilli Markets, parking near your office on Miller Street, catching up with friends around Walker Street, or locking in a spot close to home near Blues Point Road, we've got you covered. You can also filter for the amenities you need, such as motorcycle parking, 24/7 access, covered parking, security features, and more!

Certain residential streets in North Sydney offer limited free street parking. These are typically 1P or 2P (1–2 hours) with time restrictions enforced during business hours. Some metered zones are also free on Sundays and public holidays. But always double-check parking signs as rules can vary by street! North Sydney isn’t home to any major professional sports teams or stadiums, but local sports still play an active role in the community. The area is dotted with recreational fields and sports clubs, including North Sydney Oval, a historic ground that hosts lower-tier cricket matches, local rugby league games, and community events. While the city doesn't house major league teams, its location just across the Harbour Bridge means residents are only minutes away from top-tier venues like Allianz Stadium and the Sydney Cricket Ground in Moore Park.

On game days, parking near these venues can be hard to find and expensive. To avoid the stress on event day, fans can pre-book nearby parking through platforms like Parkhound to secure a spot at a cheaper rate compared to official venue rates.
