Founded in Melbourne in 2015, Parkhound is an online marketplace that connects drivers to Hosts of available parking spaces. The good news is, Parkhound operates outside the methodology of a traditional car park and makes finding parking in Kogarah so much easier. It’s all about using underutilised space much more effectively.

The Parkhound platform allows Kogarah residents to rent out their vacant garages or driveways to Drivers needing daily or monthly parking. The Parkhound platform can be accessed via an easy-to-use app or by logging into our user-friendly website. You can join the platform as a Driver, a person searching for parking, or a Host, a person with unused parking space to rent.

Residents with available spaces are referred to as Hosts once they register on the app. Spots that can be used as parking include open driveways, lock-up garages or even undercover parking. With Parkhound, residents are providing solutions that parking Kogarah Drivers are continuously searching for. Drivers log onto the platform and search for vacant spaces near their planned destination.

Once a suitable space is found, you can book the space. Then, when payment has been processed, the Driver simply arrives on the designated day and parks for the agreed time without any further hassle! There’s no driving around in circles, wasting time and fuel looking for an adequate parking spot.

Parking can be arranged for daily and monthly parking. While there are currently 37 locations available in Kogarah to choose from, this changes often as new spots are listed weekly!

Unfortunately, there are limited options for long-term parking in Kogarah. Traditional operators require you to request a quote and some, such as TAFE Kogarah Car Park, don’t offer permanent parking options at all. Kogarah, like Gordon and several other NSW suburbs, has a carpark which offers free 18 hour parking to opal card commuters. For those not commuting, parking is $30 on weekdays and $10 on weekends. As it’s a commuter car park, there are no monthly parking spaces offered.

Derby St, the only council car park in the area, does not offer permanent parking. While George’s River Council do provide residential parking permits, the closest permanent parking for commuters and visitors can be found in Hurstville.

At St George’s Hospital, visitors won’t be able to secure a monthly parking pass but can access the Five Day Visitor pass for $93.50. Patients with ongoing treatment or rehabilitation can apply for patients’ concessions which reduces the cost down to $22.60 for a 7-day ticket, with the first three hours being free. Gold Veteran Affairs Card holders also qualify for this.

Parking costs in Kogarah

With Parkhound it’s also possible to find Kogarah town centre parking as close to your destination as possible! Log onto the Parkhound app and find the perfect monthly spot! Parkhound options start at $125/month and can save you up to 50% off traditional options.

If you need daily parking, you’re looking at a maximum daily rate of $30 during weekdays at Kogarah’s Commuter Car Park. Unlike for monthly parking, there’s a number of car parks to choose from for short-term stays. On average, the maximum daily rate for Kogarah Town Centre Car Park is $26. The TAFE Kogarah Car Park on the other hand will charge you $30 for daily parking. The Derby St car park charges $25 for the day and does allow you to leave your car overnight for a flat fee of $15. St George’s hospital offers parking for $5.20 for the first 30 minutes or $6 for the day.

Parkhound offers daily parking at $10 per day. The advantage of using the daily parking option through Parkhound is that it allows you to find and book a spot close to your destination. And, your spot will be reserved for your exclusive use.
