Common questions about parking in Coogee
Who is Parkhound?
Parkhound is an online parking marketplace founded in Melbourne in 2015 by two Drivers, tired of circling the block looking for an affordable car space. The Parkhound principle centers around making use of open spaces already existing. Instead of building more car parks and adding additional pressure to existing infrastructure, Parkhound makes use of underutilized existing resources!
On your daily trip to work every day, you’ve no doubt passed by several homes with open driveways, lock-up garages or even carports. To us, it made perfect sense for local Coogee residents to be able to list these spaces and rent them out to Drivers looking for parking. It’s a simple way for residents to assist commuters with affordable Coogee parking!
Our innovative platform was acquired by Spacer in 2017 and has grown to over 200,000 members. 2018 saw the launching of our app which in turn increased the way we help commuters and visitors find the ideal parking spots!
How does Parkhound work?
On the Parkhound platform we have our Hosts, who are local homeowners and businesses with available space on their properties, and Drivers searching for daily and monthly parking in the area. Parkhound connects these two groups of people via our user-friendly app and website.
The process is quite simple! Hosts create listings of their available spaces by adding photos and details about their parking space. This can include security features, price and nearby amenities. Drivers use the platform to search vacant spots close to their destination. Once you identify an ideal spot, you can make a booking and pay via Parkhound. On the start date of your booking, you can start parking in your space that’s reserved for you. No more driving around searching for parking, wasting time and petrol!
How much is monthly parking in Coogee?
Monthly parking in Coogee can cost anywhere from $200 to over $400 a month. You’ll need to contact traditional operators for a quote, but you can likely expect similar rates to Bondi which sits around $350 a month.
Parking costs in Coogee
| Option | Price | Reservation | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Traditional Operators | Request a quote | Unreserved/Reserved | |
| Parkhound | From $201/month | Reserved | |
Monthly parking in Coogee will only cost you $201 when you use Parkhound. This is almost half the price of what you could expect to pay with traditional parking. If you’re a commuter to Coogee, the summer beach traffic can leave you feeling very frustrated. With a monthly Parkhound spot, your daily parking will be the one thing you don’t have to worry about!
How much is off-street daily parking in Coogee?
In Coogee, you can expect to pay anywhere from $9 to $25 a day for off-street parking, depending on the Host or parking operator you select. Keep in mind though that daily Coogee Beach parking can be difficult to find if you don’t arrive early. On-street parking options are usually metered with a maximum 4-hour stay from 8am to 10pm.
There’s a number of commercial operators including Interpark and our partner, Carepark.
Their parking day rates are around $25/day with discounted parking on weekends. The Randwick City Council have excitingly upgraded their Coogee Oval and Coogee Beach car parks for Smart Parking, making payment for hourly visits much more convenient. Depending on the season you’re visiting, costs can vary. Coogee Oval is about $1.20 per hour cheaper in the winter.
