Established by Janet Hay, a director of nursing, St. Andrews Hospital, the former Presbyterian hospital, opened its doors to the public in 1936. Located at 350 South Terrace, Adelaide, St. Andrews Presbyterian Hospital was later managed by a board of governors after the inauguration of the Uniting Church in 1977; hence, its present name.
St. Andrews Medical Centre offers the following services:
- Angiography. In cooperation with Siemens, this hospital provides quality images for cardiologists, radiologists, and vascular surgeons when needed for the performance of any procedures concerning the heart.
- Breast Centre. The facility aims to meet the patient’s need in the shortest possible time whilst providing the patient with ease and comfort. Treatment is provided by a specialist Breast Care Nurse who can also provide counselling at the same time. This is an organisation that works with St. Andrews Hospital’s Dr. Jones & Partners.
- Cancer Services. As a centre of excellence in South Australia, it offers you a complete and comprehensive private cancer facility.
- Critical Care Unit. This combined intensive and high-dependency care unit addresses the health problems of patients with broad cases of medical and surgical conditions specifically if they require a high-level medical care.

Access
The area can be reached through public transport and taxis. Buses are also available at Hutt Street. You just have to contact Adelaide Metro for more information on its services. The “Adelaide Connector”, the city council’s free bus services, will bring you there as they go around the city. Taxi services can also be availed of through the hospital’s phone link, which is provided at the opposite Reception, by the front door.
St. Andrews Medical Centre does not have an onsite parking for patients and relatives. However, it has a set-down and pick-up area, which includes disabled parking, located at the main entrance. Most parking spaces near the hospital are short-term.
Visitors Parking and Short Stays
The St. Andrews Place Car Park has an hourly rate that starts from $6 for 20 minutes. This could go as high as $16.50 an hour and is mostly for short stays and last-minute parking. It is usually available from 6am to 8pm only.
If you want to stay the whole day, you can avail of the $15 flat rate, which you can access from 9am to 8pm through online booking. An early bird parking offer is also available at a $16 flat rate, and this should also be booked online. Note that this subject to the Early Bird quota availability. In addition, you may want to avail of the AM parking or the PM parking, depending on your schedule. This is priced at $20 and $12, respectively, for up to 3 hours of stay.
Staff Parking
For staff parking, a flat rate of $45 is available from 6am to 8pm. You can book a parking space online during the weekdays.
Long-term Parking
